"An entire past comes to dwell in a new house." -Gaston Bachelard

In Imagining Home, the rich character of Columbia Villa is revealed through stories of residents and many others whose lives were touched by this historic, maligned, and cherished neighborhood.

From its proud beginnings during WWII through struggles with poverty, drugs and gangs, to a resurgence of safety and dignity, Columbia Villa prevails, becoming the most culturally diverse neighborhood in Oregon. In 2003, families again face upheaval, as they relocate to make way for New Columbia.

Filmmakers Sue Arbuthnot and Richard Wilhelm show that beyond realizing a visionary design for community-building, New Columbia once again becomes "home."
